This duology truly exceeded my expectations. I'm still debating whether to read the second part of the series. I heard about several unsavoury retcons and it seems people didn't react nearly so well to the characters in Endymion, but I do have unanswered questions. Even though I'm more or less fine with them, and the ending was actually perfect. Perhaps I will take a break and reevaluate.
