How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great: The Electric Guitar Owner's Manual by Dan Erlewine

4.0

Very clear, readable and easy to understand. I've watched some of his videos, and I hear his voice when I'm reading the book. I like his emphasis on using standard or non-traditional tools, as opposed to custom guitar-only stuff.

It's definitely one expert's approach and preferences, so cross checking with other books or online advice is still useful. There's more than one way to do a lot of these things.

Even if I choose a different approach, it's always good to know what Dan Erlewine might do instead.

A nice book, but not balanced quite right. Not sure if it had too much info or not enough. I'd rather have a bigger book with more info (which might be Erlewine's Guitar Player Repair Guideā€”I gotta check that out next.)

Half of it is stuff I hope I never have to deal with (locking tuners, Floyd Roses, pretty finishes), and I wish it was more in depth on other stuff (nuts, frets).
