Secrets of Divine Love: A Spiritual Journey into the Heart of Islam by A. Helwa

4.0

By reading this book, I learned a lot about the relationship I have with Allah. Nowadays, I’m reviewing that relationship more often after I read this exact phrase:

’Knowing ourselves is vital to loving Allah, for divine love awakens in our spirits when we begin to really taste how needy and desperate we are for Allah. Allah planted the quality of His love within us before we even knew who He was, so our longing to love Allah is a manifestation of Him having loved us first.’

I’m baffled when I read that. Indeed, I should trying to understand Allah by trying to understand myself first. I should trying to acknowledge my fitrah, the state of purity I’m born with, that was given by Allah when He create me and all other human beings.

I’m not going to say that I’m currently in the best version of myself, but I think I can say that I am now is in a better state than I am yesterday...
