I feel like this book had the potential to be so good but at some point it just completely lost the plot. I was irritated at first when reading it because no matter how much a character is an asshole or an enemy or whatever, I just personally can’t stand the typical comments policing what women wear in books like. The man can kill someone for all I care but the second he starts demanding the girl changes, he can rot idk! But that’s just a personal tick of mine anyway.

Some of it was so good and Alex had the romantic in me giggling a little when he pulled out words like “Sweetheart” like he truly fell so hard for her and God do I need a man who is (kind of) like that! Ava was also so sweet and her inner monologue was so funny sometimes.

In the last 100 pages or so, though, everything just becomes extremely fast paced and the plot just derails and there’s so many things happening that it all just feels silly and not worth reading anymore. The grovelling that’s meant to be romantic and sweet just comes across very much like Joe Goldberg from You (and not in a hot way), and as darling as Ava is, I hate that she could forgive so suddenly and quickly. Alex singing was so funny too like that was HIS I’m Just Ken moment.

The only truly sane person in the novel is Josh and if that boy was real he’d be mine because he was everything #TeamJosh
