The Love Haters by Katherine Center

5.0

I was so excited when I heard the new Katherine Center novel was on @netgalley because I love her. Everything she writes makes me happy and just makes me feel bouyant. This one was - of course - delightfully the same.

Katie isn't in a great place. When her ex fiance became famous and she became a target for online trolls, she began to criticize every part of her figure. Then she tortured herself, like many women do, in the name of self improvement. For herself... Even though she'd never had a problem before. Now she's about to lose her job when her boss Cole sends her on a project to make a documentary about Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer Hutch. The problem? She can't swim. But fake it til you make it, right? How hard can it be to learn in no time?! Katie gets to Key West and find a out that Hutch is truly perfect, just like Cole said. But there's clearly a lot more to this guy that Cole referred to as a "love hater" and Katie will find out.

I love the way this love story seamlessly wove in a story about loving yourself, without being overly obvious. It was as much of a love story between Katie and Hutch, as it was of Katie loving herself. Beautifully done in the way that only Katherine can.
