Just Like Jackie by Lindsey Stoddard

One of the saddest stories I've read loud to my kids, this tale of Robinson and her grandpa is both frightening and eye-opening. Robbie feels controlled by her anger, which has multiplied since her grandpa's memory stopped working as well and her teacher assigned a family tree project. How do you make a tree when you only know the name of one person in your family besides yourself? With an excellent school counselor, friends, and some hard lessons, Robbie (and the reader) come out of this novel with hope.

My daughter (almost 12) and I really liked this one, although it was SO SAD I had a hard time reading it sometimes. There is a little bit of language (Grandpa says damn, and one of the kids says "eff" - literally, not the actual word) if that is an issue to you.
