Without Remorse by Tom Clancy

1.0

Clearing my shelves of books about to sell/donate, I came across this which I remember purchasing at a yard sale for $1 in the 90s, but never read. What a mess. A terrible premise that is a prequel for the character of "Clark" who in this goes on a rampage against drug dealers who kill a woman he had literally JUST MET and suddenly took upon himself to help cure her of a drug addiction along with a pair of doctors and a nurse he also JUST MET (and who work at one of the top hospitals in the U.S. yet seem to offer their services for free! Why? Because they like this guy of course. D'uh). This is all juxtaposed with Clark's first incursion with the CIA, trying to rescue some fallen flyers from behind North Vietnamese lines (the war is still raging on in this book).

Such an overlong mess of a book. Thankfully Clancy books are a straightforward read, and I zoomed through the 600+ (why is it so long??) in a couple of hours.
