Elizabeth’s ex needs her assistance - which leads to multiple deaths and near deaths. Diamonds, mafia, cocaine dealings, money laundering, all cross paths with Bogdan, DCI Donna and her boss Chris - who is dating Donna’s mother.
The beginning of Chapter 38, Elizabeth leads a great conversation about people who are weather forecasters - “that’s me and Ibrahim—we always have our fingers in the air, trying to feel which way the wind is blowing. We never want to be surprised or caught out.”
Or people who are the weather itself - like Ron and Joyce - people who “move as you choose, you act as you feel. You make things happen without fannying around worrying about what those things might be.”
As a side plot, Ibrahim is accosted by three young men and hospitalized for his injuries. He apologizes to Chris and Donna for not being able to give a good description of the three - and then proceeds to describe their clothing, their bicycles and a tattoo. Love Ibrahim. The three are brought in for questioning - and are let go for some reason I can't remember. The Murder Club finds a way to exact revenge for the wrongdoing - which involves planting cocaine and getting the "alpha male" of the accosters arrested.
Five stars because Joyce comes in to her own in this adventure of the Thursday Murder Club.
Yes - she really DOES have an instagram account. It's a hoot
