Empire of Lust by Rina Kent
Did not finish book.

DNF at 33%.
I didn’t have that connection with the characters that I need to in order to care what happens to them.
It was starting to feel like a bit of a chore to continue reading it and I couldn’t focus.
Even though this book is a standalone in a series, and can be read in its own, I did feel like I was missing out on things from the previous books. They did brief recaps of the important parts but I felt I needed more.
However, the prologue, as an introduction, was eye-opening. Rina spoke so casually about how Aspen and her best friend (Caroline) had to stuff their face with food at a party so that they’d be full for days. It felt as if it should be a normal occurrence, which of course it shouldn’t be. It’s something a lot of us don’t have to worry about but reading that has made me think more.
