Hysterical: A Memoir by Elissa Bassist
4.0
Have you ever been sick and sought help from medical professionals only to be told that it's most likely in your hear or that you are hysterical? If so, and more importantly if you haven't then this book is for you. Author Elissa Bassist recounts the years in her life when she was afflicted with ailments that had no name. It's only when a acupuncturist asks her if her illnesses could be caged or unspoken fury that needs to be voice that she finds relief.
This is a memoir that many women will find themselves relating to. Silence + Shame = Sickness
Bassist writes of the #metoo movement and how that movement is a beginning. Lots of footnotes will is most welcome.
* I read an advance copy and was not compensated.
