The author writes about cancer and genetics in this book. He specifically looks at families that have something wrong with the P53 gene, which causes cancer to happen frequently and everywhere in the body. His family happens to have this gene and throughout weaving the story about the history of cancer he tells his family's story and other families' stories of the members that have had cancer. I listened to this book and thought that it was really well done. The book was very interesting and I learned a lot about cancer that I didn't know. It is really interesting how the gene P53 plays such an important roll in keeping cancer at bay. The book is sad with all of the cancer deaths, but at the same time I felt hope in how far science has come and how far it could still go in the future. The book gave me a lot to think about and talk to my husband about.
