Enjoyment - 3
Sadly I liked the first book more than the finale. The parts I liked best about the first book were the politicking and sense of danger of having the MCs be so close to the villains. This book was more of a traveling to a location book which I didn't really enjoy. It felt like we took all of the characters that were set up in the first book and put them in the backseat for random new characters. I wish Ayla had stayed longer in Queen Junn's court and that Crier stayed longer with Hesod and Kinok, those were the most interesting and dramatic parts.
It still is a well written book and the world/setup is interesting and cool. I like Ayla and Crier as characters, so it's not that this book is bad, I just didn't enjoy the plot development and direction that it took. Just a me thing.
Start - 3.5
Characters - 2.5
Simply a low score because all the interesting characters from the first book (Storme, June, Hesod, Kinok, Benjy, the council members, etc.) were barely present except for the beginning and end. I feel like more could have been done with them.
Atmosphere - 3
I like this world and the Automae. I'd be interested to read more stories about the Automae.
