Considering the sheer impact of this book on literally CREATING the sci-fi genre apparently... I think that, despite feeling a little dated, it lives up to that hype. I particularly liked the vivid descriptions of the aliens and their strange technology, and while I must admit I found the ending a liiiiiittle anti-climactic, I do think its a fairly realistic possible conclusion so I can't fault it on that.
