Gotta love a scythe-wielding maniac and her hammer warrior gf. The fights in this, from start to finish, were epic and so well described, I felt like I was in the middle of the battlefield. I totally get why people liken this to the hunger games, I saw many similar elements but I definitely recommend giving both a shot, they are still very different in their tone and approach. One point of criticism I have, is that there is a lot of pov jumping to characters who are boring in this book. These pov characters could have just appeared in one of Thurwar or Staxxx’s chapters as side characters. This would have cut out some of the fat of the novel. I did however like seeing Singer and Craft’s povs, those added an extra dimension to the plot and world of chain-gang all-stars. Brilliant premise and a thrilling ending.
