The Wild Robot by Peter Brown

adventurous emotional hopeful medium-paced

3.0

Solidly good read but it did not jump into the great read territory for me.  It's an interesting story about a robot, Roz, who washes up on shore from a shipwreck and learns to live on the island amongst the animals and wildlife.  Though she's a robot, we see her make connections and friendships with the other animals and even becomes a caregiver.  It ends with a conflict with other robots and kind of makes the reader think about the intersection between nature and technology.  I think my expectations were really high for this after hearing other readers just gush over it. Interested to see how I'll feel about the movie adaptation.  My kiddo thought it was ok when she read it in elementary school and I'd say I'd have to agree with her reaction too.
