Renegade Lady by Sonya Birmingham
4.0
Sometimes you can find a decent romance novel in a second hand bookstore. I wanted to pick up a quick read romance novel that was historical and this was one of the two I picked up. (Included in this purchase was the book I reviewed above!) While the book does not seem to be popular on the internet, it was the perfect book to finish 2020 with. And to be honest, I think people are sleeping on reading romance novels sometimes because they can be pretty good. This one was set during the American colonies and the start of the American revolution. Our main character, Sassy, wants the American colonies to be independent from England when she falls for Roarke MacLaren, a Scotsman, who wants Scotland independence as well. (Does that not sound slightly familiar?) Overall, I really enjoyed the story even though it has the traditional romance book cover of the shirtless man and the swooning woman! The only downfall with this book was the climax lasted until the last few pages and then the book ended. (Personally, I need more time between the climax and the end!)
