I’ll be honest I was worried how I would like this one due to the whole custody battle aspect, but surprisingly I enjoyed it.

I did find it hard to connect with Joachim at times. I liked him and really appreciated that he took responsibility for his mistakes. He knew he was the one who messed up, and understood that he had wasted a lot of both money and sponsorship opportunities due to his alcoholism. It was good to see him work so hard at staying sober. There were a couple of times that he could have fallen off the wagon and I would have understood but he fought through it.

The part that I found hard to connect with him was his interactions with Isaac concerning Sophie. I understood that he was trying to do what in his mind was the right thing, but he was absolutely oblivious to Isaac’s relationship with her, and he showed no care for the bond they had. By brushing it off and relegating him the Uncle, so he could have a life without Sophie, did he not think for one second that if she had never gotten sick, he never would have know about her? I was impressed by the introspection he did when it all blew up and how he understood how selfish he was being.

I loved Isaac and connected with him easily. I totally understood his actions in defending his relationship with Sophie. I can see both sides and understood both sides of the argument but I was on side Issac. I think knowing it was coming was worse, as we watched them getting closer and then waited for the explosion.

Nick the owner made up a little ground for me in this one and I really can’t wait to see where he goes from here.
