Read for school. This book was incredibly sad but had such an important message. Search for trigger warnings before reading. I think it’s important for people to read about these types of stories to learn what happens in the world. But the ending felt flat, abrupt, and not the best way to end Lakshmi’s story. It didn’t give the reader any type of closure and left it open for interpretation which wasn’t my favorite.
