A novel obsession by Caitlin Barasch
I don’t normally pick up books about unhinged women, but this might be a sub genre I’m getting more curious about.

Naomi is an aspiring writer who hasn’t felt “inspired” to focus on her novel until she starts playing with a plot where the female protagonist becomes obsessed with her boyfriend’s ex… however, this plot blends the lines between Naomi writing a fictional story and actually what she’s living a little too close to home.

This book felt really meta to read because I feel like some of these scenes could very likely happen to people in relationships, especially if they’re insecure/anxiously attached. I for one have helped friends look into social media accounts of their bf’s exes as well, but after reading this book I’ll definitely be thinking twice before indulging in that again 😂. I hoped the messiness of the plot would lead into a bigger ending, so I was a little disappointed by that, but overall the book was captivating and fun to read!
