Love isn’t easy; there will be obstacles, high and lows. The beginning of Kain and Arabella’s journey to a happy ending is one that has shaken me to the core. I felt every emotion—the joy, the pain, and everything in between. That’s how a romance novel should make you feel.

The author mentioned in the afterword that it took nine years for her to craft this story and I’m here to tell you this: that every single moment was worth it. The care in which Kain is formulated is in the heartbreakingly raw depiction of a black man suffering in silence, at war with his own mind. These two young people find themselves in a whirlwind of love as they try to fight their own demons.

Soul Crush and its dynamic cast of characters has given me what I’ve been searching for in an adult romance for the past few months. As I continue this series, my heart is hopeful that these two will find a way to love themselves and each other better. Gabriela Ge is a force to be reckoned and I’m so glad I decided to a take a chance on her work for the first time.
