The Heir's Disgrace by August Jones
5.0
Drew Riley is facing his future with a lot of despair. His modeling career has gone nowhere, his sister constantly both belittles him and asks for money he doesn't have, and his relationship has stalled. His night job as a doorman puts him in the sights of the heir to a French company, and their animosity is 🔥.
Olivier Arnaud is drugging, drinking, and sleeping around while doing nothing with his life. When he goes viral in the worst way, his parents basically sell him into an arranged marriage to get rid of him. His antagonizing of Drew increases, causing them both to find things in themselves they didn't know existed.
These two go through the wringer trying to get to some kind of happy ending! They battle their own bi-awakenings, the people around them, and their mental health (in a huge way). I adore who they become at the end, both alone and as a couple, but there are portions of the book where they are not likable as they get there. They do finally find a good support system of found family as well, which helps when they blow up Olivier's life! Hang on for a wild ride!
FAVORITE QUOTES:
"I've tapped into some part of myself that's always been there - something brutal and broken and greedy."
"I think I'm a series of carefully concealed landmines."
"Am I the only one here who feels like I started a new job I have no training for?"
"He locks his arms around my back and sobs. He's wrecked, and he's been holding it in for a while now - being strong for me. I had a feeling."
