Exodus: The Archimedes Engine by Peter F. Hamilton
5.0
No Spoilers Here
A fairly standard PFH science fiction story. Huge in scale, great tech, science fact and multiple story arcs that will eventually be tied up in the sequel. The main difference with this tale is that it's the foundation for a game being released in 2027. Many parts of the book reference a lot of things that are found in open world survival craft ( OWSC ) and MMO games. They're neatly slotted into the book but do stick out like a sore thumb. I've very much enjoyed it and I think most fans of the genre will do too. Many may be put off by it's size or the game *tie in*. Essentially this book is the birth of a new story verse for tales to grow from. I will add that this is not the story which is present in the game but a wholly separate story told in this new setting. I'm already looking forward to reading the forthcoming and concluding book in the 2 part series.
