The Secret Lives of Wives: Women Share What It Really Takes to Stay Married by Iris Krasnow
5.0
I loved this read. I think you have to be a woman in a long term relationship/marriage to relate and appreciate what Krasnow is saying. While I'm not a wife embarking on a 20 year anniversary, or even ten for that matter (it will be six years of marriage this fall; nine years of dating and almost 11 years of friendship); nor am I a wife in my 40s or 50s (I'm still in my 20s actually). I started reading this book at a time when I was really pissed off with my husband. And it soldified some of my feelings of hurt are warranted... it also showed me that having my own thing is ok. And I'm not the only woman who's husband sits on the couch mesmorized by a screen while I bust my ass around the house. Since we got married, I always joked around with my mother saying the fact that my husband and I keep opposite schedules is what's going to keep us married. After reading all the stories in this book, I think that's pretty true. ;) This will be a book I give friends who are getting married.
