The Annual Migration of Clouds by Premee Mohamed

3.0

An interesting novella about the aftermath of climate change and the consequences people have to live with decades down the line. Lots of little neat details about that and the addition of a fungal parasite made the story captivating at times. While it seems that the plot will be about the MC going to this university under a dome far away from her colony since the book starts with her receiving her acceptance letter, the story is more about the choices we make, the responsibilities we have towards our communities and each other versus our desires beyond them, it’s about survival and trying to claw some kind of happiness and life out of drastic disaster. I know there’s a sequel, but in and of itself it does feel a little unfinished because of that. Still fascinating in part, and I enjoy reading Canadian fiction, especially in genres (like post apocalypse) that I’m not used to read it in.
