Children of Anguish and Anarchy by Tomi Adeyemi

2.0

I like hearing your people call out to your gods... they never seem to come.

This series had so much potential. I'm bummed it started off lukewarm and just kept getting worse. I liked the first book but the second just made me angry. This third book had some good bones and could've been so much better. It honestly feels like Adeyemi just lost interest in this series and these characters and needed to finish the book to make good on her book contract. It was rushed, boring, and out of sync with everything else. Some parts of this were interesting, but overall it felt hard to connect to and was a chore to read. By the time we got to the climax, I was just wanting it to be over that the emotional impact of the last moments fell fully flat. Overall, I just wanted a lot more from this.
