One of the best memoirs I've ever read. Honest even through hardship and darkly funny throughout. McCurdy's voice is dry, frank, and masters the art of noting the unusual details to flesh out each scene. This was a challenging read for me. I read primarily through the audiobook which was narrated by the author, but at times it felt almost too close to bear and some chapters I had to read on my physical copy to create an ounce of distance. Part of me wishes there had been more chapters after she started the path to recovery, if only to see a little more of the time that allowed her to actually write all of this in the first place, but the nature of the memoir makes that logistically challenging. Aside from that point, it was fantastic start-to-finish.
