Rose, an orphaned alchemist from Feywood is invited to go along with her Uncle Ragnar to the next Decemvirate, a competition where one from each province tries to prove they are more deserving of magic. This Decemvirate Ragnar is a contestant. Along the way, Ragnar falls ill to the Somnivae Curse. A curse where one sleeps, frozen in time. Rose is asked to take his place. Leo, son of Branock Aris, former emperor, is in hiding with his twin sister Rissa. Rose believes that Leo's father is the reason why she's an orphan. Secrets continue to unravel and Rose is left with a hard decision. What, or who, does she choose?
I loved every bit of this book. If you loved The Hunger Games, you'll love this. It is full of fantasy, no-spice romance, and twists and turns. The characters are relatable and the descriptions make you feel like you are in the story as well. I did not want to put it down.
