A solid 5 stars.
Not only is Faith Erin Hicks’s artwork stunning in this book, the storytelling is good and the development in terms of plot, characters and relationships is just right for my taste.
I enjoyed watching both Kai and Rat grow individually and as a team. They’re courageous and their friendship and their love for the city and stand for the people and justice are their motivations for that courage. Even though they may be afraid and are not skilful fighters, their resourcefulness and nimble nature gets them out of tight spots with the enemies. They’ve shown that there are many ways to fight other than with a sword.
The villains in this book…I hate them. One is a spoilt brat and the other is a spiteful person whose spite is unjustified. Urgh! Hicks really know how to write a villain we can hate and want to see brought to justice.
Definitely adding this book to my collection
