To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Edit: I have seen some more of the criticism about TKAM since I read it, and I get it. This book is not, as many people have thought and been taught, a major triumph against racism. It is an interesting story with memorable characters and a message of tolerance. It also sidelines the very voices it claims to defend and prioritizes the voices it claims to criticize.

Wow. This book is gorgeous. No wonder it’s a classic and every High School has it on their reading list. About 50 pages from the ending, I said, “I don’t get why people think Boo Radley is so important; he’d have to do something really big to be at the center of this story.”
Now, I get it!
