House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

This took me over 300 pages to get into. I stuck with it because I am obsessed with SJM's writing and I knew it got better, but y'all... it was a struggle bus. There was so much info-dumping when it came to the world-building, so many names and places thrown at you at the beginning that I felt so overwhelmed.

But once I got to that sweet spot about 300-350 pages in, it started really picking up! I'm obsessed with Hunt (new book boyfriend) and while I see a lot of parallels between Bryce and Aelin from ToG, I do adore her as a character and I love the relationships she has with the other characters.

I was surprised that this was less of an adventure book like ACOTAR and ToG were and more of a murder mystery. It was honestly kind of refreshing. Also, I had never been one for urban fantasy, but SJM did wonders! I'm totally hooked!
