Simply Perfection.

Here are my favourite lines/quotes:

“In general, I felt as if I couldn’t win. That no amount of faith or hard work would push me past my detractors and their attempts to invalidate me. I was female, black and strong, which to certain people, maintaining a certain mindset, translated only to angry. It was another demanding cliche, one that’s been forever used to sweep minority women to the perimeter of every room. An unconscious signal not to listen to what we’ve got to say.”

“The easiest way to disregard a woman’s voice is to package her as a scold.”

“When voters got to see me as a person, they understood that the caricatures were untrue. I’ve learned, that it’s harder to hate upclose.”

“Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this I would never forgive him.”

“If at first only in your mind, or as Barack put it that night, you may live in the world as it is, but you can still work to create the world as it should be.”

“Maybe we can better embrace the ways we are the same. It’s not about being perfect. It’s not being about where you get yourself in the end. There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard. In owning your unique story and using your authentic voice. And there’s grace in being willing to know and hear others. This for me is how we become.”
