A Homemade Year: The Blessings of Cooking, Crafting, and Coming Together by Jerusalem Jackson Greer
4.0
I just got this in the mail yesterday as a Firstreads copy and it's a beautiful book! I have not read it in it's entirely, and probably will never sit down to read it chapter-to-chapter, but I've read the preface, and flipped through, read bits & pieces, bookmarked, laughed out loud, and been moved to tears. I love the snippets of insight into the author's life, have enjoyed the quotes, will try some of the recipes, and will glean inspiration from the crafts & activities included.
My favourite chapter so far has been Chapter 5: Epiphany. As the mother of 2 very active, very lovable little boys, I could relate to so much of what she was saying! I know I won't attempt everything in here... but it's presented nicely, written in a light-hearted encouraging format (without being preachy), and will claim a spot on my go-to bookshelf. It's an enjoyable, easy-to-relate to book - whether you're an experienced mother, crafter, home-maker, cook, or just want somewhere to start or ideas to incorporate into your own family life.
