Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

4.0

Equal parts novel and horse-caring guide. This is a strong reminder that there are ways that humans and animals can gainfully interact but only when money isn't involved

It offers the contemplative point-to-point rhythm of an elevated delivery game. Black Beauty is the Death Stranding of 19th-century horse novels

Anna Sewell is a good author but she is not a great one. I know this because-- despite many many opportunities-- she fails to make a hoarse horse joke
