Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

4.0

4-4.5 stars for me on this one.

I had read the first book along with a rash of other books so I had to do a book 1 recap before starting it with my sister just to make sure I remembered what happened.

This book dives right into the reunion between Aria and Perry which was lovely. I love these characters together and I'm not going to lie, there were times where I felt Rossi was introducing other characters as potential love interests just to create additional angst....my first thought at that potential wrinkle was a big, fat "NO WAY".

There is so much going on in this book and it feels like there is a lot because of the switching point of views. Not only is there the reunion between Perry and Aria but once that happens, we find there are some bigger things going on. Aria in on a path to find the Still Blue and to do that she needs to go to Sable. Hess is pretty much forcing this to happen due to the fact that he still has Talon and she wants to do what she can to help get Talon back to Perry.

Perry is now Blood Lord of the Tides and coming to terms with what that means. He has limits placed on what he can/can't and should/shouldn't do. He also is trying to figure out how to make the right decisions for the clan...some of the people respect him and others don't. Because of that, there is a lot of tension when Aria returns to the Tides with Perry.

I won't go into all of the details of the book but the characters are still wonderfully developed. Perry is still the protective, swoony boy but he has so much more responsibility. He struggles with his role and the decisions he has to make. Aria is a slightly tougher version of who she was in the last book and I like that about her. Roar is another great character. He continues to love Liv and the friendship he and Aria have is so important to both of them. Soren is back but in a different way and although he isn't a favorite of mine, I have a feeling he may begin to redeem himself.

I really enjoyed this book. The fact that I was unable to put this one down and now need to be patient for the next one can speak to that. I am very interested to see how things go in the next book - I won't mention any spoilers here but once you hit the end of this book, you will know what I mean.
