Maybe more like 3.5, my first ever introduction to this one so it was interesting to learn the story.
It’s been a while since I’ve attempted to read Middle English and while I couldn’t understand most of it, I appreciated having the verses side by side so I could try to match the phrases with each other. It was also really interesting to read Armitage’s preface about the rhyming and alliteration of the original, which made reading his translation even more impressive because he found ways to retain those with modern English!
