Got this book at a book fair like 10 years ago and I finally read it. This is my second Paula Morris book and her writing style is definitely consistent. I’m really struggling to enjoy the tropes and style of YA writing, but it is kinda fun to revisit that writing style as an adult. Sometimes I like that YA writing is so clear and I don’t have to read between the lines lol

I might be over these teenage girls that can see ghosts haha

Also, I will say that idk if the ending really worked for me. Every other thing in the book was kinda dragged out and then it was kinda jarring how quick the ending was wrapped up. Like the kids got their shit rocked in the fire and I thought we were gonna get some detail on how they escaped but all of a sudden they’re in the hospital ? Like it’s fine, I guess, jumps like that happen a lot in other media/books, but I just don’t know if I like it. Feels kinda lazy after making me read strenuous detail for everything before. Just saying. Don’t mean to come for you Paula Morris but also I kinda do.
