Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

5.0

“Seize the wind," I whispered. "Don't become the kite that never flies.”

I was sold by the blurb of this book. When everyone was describing it as Project Runway meets Mulan, I am like YAAAAS give me this.
But trust it was more than that. It was so magical. By the first chapter of the book, I knew this was going to be my new favourite fantasy series.

The book goes in fast. I feel like the storyline is on accelerate all the way, there was no stopping I love it. I couldn't put it down.
I like how the pace of the book was fast but not in such a rush that everything was everywhere. The plotline was smooth.
There is non stop action in every page.

The writing is just beautiful. The characters are amazing.
I felt like the characters have amazing character development. The craziest thing is, there is still so much more we need to learn of the characters, it feels amazing knowing I will be getting more.
The magic system is incredible. We definitely learn one side of it, but we will see more in the second book with Maia.

In terms of villains, there is quite a few that is just pure evil but at the same time, I feel like we don't really know who our enemies are until later on in the second book. Right now is just a beginning of being push around by the higher authorities.

I am excited we are getting demons and spirits that are getting involve with the story. Which will affect badly of the plotline and characters in the next book because shit is about to go down.

I like the relationship Maia have with each characters. Her love interest and her family. I hope we get to see more of her family in the next book.

Can I just say how much I am in love with Edan. He is just the sweetest. I like how we get his side of the story but it does not take the shine out of the main character Maia.

I NEED THE NEXT BOOK.

“You will hold the seams of our family together, Maia. No other tailor in the world can do that.”
