Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean
5.0
Lady Calpulnia Hartwell has followed all the rules of society for many miserable seasons, leaving her with a pristine reputation but no husband, and an almost crippling level of boredom. This year, she is determined to do things a little differently. But to satisfy her thirst for adventure, she'll need an accomplice. And who better than Gabriel St. John, Marquess of Ralston and infamous rake? Ralston needs someone to guide his tempestuous Italian half-sister through the social season and in return he promises to assist Callie in her quest. But in forgetting the rule book, Callie and Ralston are in danger of forgetting the one rule they've promised to keep: they cannot fall in love.
Callie and Ralston are famous in romancelandia and after reading Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake I am enthusiastically joining their fan club as well. Their friends-to-lovers chemistry is delicious and their escapades are so much fun--sneaking around adds tension and drama to their interactions. I also loved seeing their relationships with their siblings. Add in some of the very best slowly unfolding spiciness (and spicy is an understatement) and you too will see why this is definitely going to become one of my all time favorite historicals. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
