Death Note, Vol. 12: Finis by Tsugumi Ohba

5.0

I was starting to feel like this series was getting kinda lazy, especially when it came to Matt's and Mello's characters. The previous few volumes felt like they were dragging on, and not many interesting things happened ( unless Mello was involved in it ) so I was starting to lose hope.

But then we got to this one, hoo boy.

It started off pretty badly, with Matt's death being so sudden. It especially felt undeserved since we didn't get to see much of his character, same goes for Mello. But it payed off later when Near was crediting M's actions, ultimately helping him catch Kira. I thought that was pretty cool.

This volume was a good payoff, and especially a great ending to the story. It was a battle getting through it, but I don't regret it at all. I'm even inspired to read the one shots and light ( haha ) novels as well.
