Persepolis Rising by James S.A. Corey

4.0

Riding through the city having a fucking BLAST, babes! This book was getting things back on track because as I said in my book six review, that book had too many POVs and you could tell where the writers weren't quite interested in all of them so it made the action grind to a halt at certain times but this was one very tightly packed. Yes, I'm biased because we're getting to the aliens but I never said that I wasn't. Saba is kinda the last of the real lover boys and the Roci crew are my CPBFs (besides the deadbeat. I've never care for Alex, it's true.)

Here are some of my favorite quotes:
pg. 36: "But the first generation died with the work still unaccomplished. And the generation after that, and so on, child following parent, until the children only knew the tunnels and didn't think they were so bad. They lost sight of the larger dream because it had never been their dream. Once the creators and their intentions were, only the tunnels were left."
pg. 201: "Heart outside my body you are..." Saba to Drummer
pg. 376: "That woman is my heart and I lost her..." Saba about Drummer
pg. 377: "But no matter where it is, she won't be there..." Say it with me once more, Saba about Drummer.
pg. 383: "'Alex, I live here,' Naomi said. 'I can't tell you how many times he's put me here. How many times he's seen the right thing to do and rushed off to do it without thinking about the price. Without letting me or you or the Roci scare him into being less than his conscience demands. He doesn't even know he's doing. It's natural to him.Who he is. It's the only thing about him I'm really angry about...You remember Io? When he went off to a ship with active protomolecule all over it because maybe he'd be able to save Mars? Or Ilus, when he vanished with whatever that weird version of Miller was because maybe he'd be able to keep you and me from falling out of orbit? Or on Marais, when he went into the cliffs so we wouldn't run out of water? So this time he went to keep Amos and Katria playing nice, and instead, he saved the whole operation and maybe opened the way for all of us to get away safely. All it cost was him. And he paid that price without hesitating. Same as fucking always.'"
