Stone Blind by Natalie Haynes
3.0
An interesting retelling of Medusa. As another review has stated, and having read this I can agree that Medusa wasn’t mentioned as much as protagonists usually are but for me that wasn’t really a problem because the other characters that were shown were necessary to set the events into motion and show the story from different perspectives.
I liked how feminist this story was and how it showed the pain of Medusa. Yet she still loved her sisters and the world enough to not let herself look at any living things so she wouldn’t turn them to stone.
Percy was a complete asshole. At first he seemed to be a decent character but once he tricked the Graeae he proceeded to be a selfish bastard that only cared for his mother and himself.
Because of this story I dislike Zeus even more because ew SA and viewing women as not much more than entertainment. At least he loved Athene and wasn’t like that against her.
The writing itself was pretty normal but this story isn’t one that will stay in my mind for how it was written but rather for how unjust people and gods were shown to be against Medusa.
