I am officially mad at the terrible middle grade books we had when I was a kid. My children have NO IDEA how incredible the MG lit is compared to when I was their age. I just moved straight to Janette Oke (and of course Sweet Valley High) because I didn't want to read There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom and other quality titles.

This book is phenomenal and sad and hopeful and everything a good book should be.
