DC Pride 2022 #1 by Andrea Shea, Michael McCalister, Chris Conroy, Jessica Chen, Arianna Turturro
4.0
*in honor of Kevin Conroy, who passed away on 11/10/22, DC Comics made DC Pride 2022 which included his personal FINDING BATMAN story free-to-read on DC Universe Infinite*
Conroy's "Finding Batman" was definitely my favorite of the collection, but I did also enjoy most of the stories within the anthology. The collection filled my heart on a dark day, Kevin Conroy's gravely, smooth voice embodied Batman and his iteration was the first introduction I had to one of my, if not my favorite character. It was nice to read about his journey and his connection to the character he so perfectly embodied.
Finding Batman is only one of twelve stories within the anthology but it was definitely the most impactful. Other favorites in the comic were "Super Pride" (gotta love the Super Sons), "The Gumshoe in Green", and "Special Delivery". Most of the plots were fairly uncomplicated but I don't fault them for that, not all stories are supposed to be dark and filled with "deep" complexity. Stories can be hopeful and celebratory, which I think was the goal of this collection.
