The Push by Ashley Audrain

3.0

This was an unsettling, chilling and creepy Thriller about motherhood. And the big question if Blythe is insane or if her daughter is a monster.

I absolutely get why so many people love this. It seemed to have deeply resonated with a lot of other readers but it just didn't with me.
Maybe I'm too young or care too little about kids. Probably already not wanting to experience motherhood beforehand made it even harder to connect to the characters and their desires.

It is very beautifully written so it was rather easy to read. However, it was purely Character based, which I just don't like in my thrillers.

My only real criticism is the ending. While everything else was simply personal preference, I objectively think the ending fell flat. It was super uncreative and what I believed to be going on from page one.

Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend this if this sounds like your type of book or a concept you're interested in.
