It's hard when you gotta be you but other people wanna force all kinda shit on you that you don't want... people just tryna control the hell out of one another all the damn time.
Never have I ever read a book that made me laugh so hard and feel like I would simultaneously be best friends and mortal enemies with a main character. Carlotta is one of the most entertaining, endearing characters of the 21st century. I found this to be equally humorous one second and heartbreaking the next. Trans* issues, our prison industrial complex, and redlining come together in a surprisingly cohesive and profound way. The audio version is a must. My only complaint is that I found myself somewhat bored throughout this. I’m not sure exactly what was missing but I wanted more.
