While the story was entertaining and there were interesting characters, the intro “history of the world” ruins it.  This book is considered paranormal, and it’s set in an alternate USA where European colonizers got to the Americas and ran into vampires, werewolves, etc. The structure of the world is different enough to not be rooted in our historical understanding of this is America, this is the Atlantic, these are Europeans BUT she chooses to erase all indigenous people instead. It’s lazy world building and racist.
