Things I normally dislike in my fantasy books:
- YA
- too much inner monologue
- info dumping
So believe me when I say I myself was MYSTIFIED that I could not get enough of this YA dark academic book that was fraught with inner monologues OF info dumping. Maybe it was El’s delightfully sarcastic way of thinking, or the reluctant hero trope, or the very interesting magic and monster system, but I throughly enjoyed this book and found myself thinking of it when I wasn’t reading. Can’t wait until September!!
