Much better than I expected!

About a 3.5 star book that I rounded up to 4. Upon further review (I put this down about two minutes ago) I might decide it needs to go down to three, but for now it's a four!

I wasn't really thinking that this was going to shape up to be anything good. It was recommended to me by someone who knew how much I enjoyed the concept of [b:Criminal Zoo|29771515|Criminal Zoo|Sean McDaniel|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1473929736l/29771515._SY75_.jpg|50136965], but at the YA level. I was really pleasantly described by how much I liked it!

The pacing was super fast. This book was definitely a page-turner and kept me really engrossed because the writing was very light and easy to read. The concept was that a girl framed for murder ends up becoming a prisoner at the Alcatraz 2.0 prison, in which viewers tune in to watch criminals get hunted down by deranged killers fighting for views and profit-sharing margins.

Of course, there are some ridiculous romance aspects in this book (You can't spell YA without a cliche relationship) but thankfully they aren't at the forefront here. The murder scenes were fairly grisly without being too heavily detailed, which I appreciated as well.

Pretty interesting novel, albeit a tad predictable and cringey at moments, but definitely not bad! I'd recommend this for anyone looking for something quick and different!
