The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
5.0
So much has been written about this book that it is difficult to add anything new here. I read the book as an ebook but thought it was so impressive that I also wanted it as a paperback. That's how I finally finished it. Nora, the protagonist of the Midnight Library, struggles with herself and life. She decides she doesn't want to continue like this and sees no other way out than suicide. When Nora floats between life and death, she finds herself in her mind with Mrs. Elm, the librarian at the Midnight Library. There Nora learns that regret does not solve anything, but that the key must be sought in making choices. Other choices, however small, lead to different outcomes. Every possibility is a book. Nora is allowed to experience these books one by one and learns to embrace and appreciate life again.
An exceptionally original story, with an encouraging message for anyone struggling with life.
Literally, this book wins for me so far, and it is at the top of my list of favorite books to read in 2021
