The Varieties of Religious Experience by William James

5.0

this is the second or third time I came to this book. I am neurodivergent and have had a few lumps in life but I probably still fit in the category that James call once born. Rather optimistic and not filled most of the time with existential dread as opposed to the twice-born with all their Sturm und Drang. I get the feeling that James feels people like this are happy-go-lucky idiots sometimes but honestly most of the time I enjoy life and don't feel most of the time that the universe is out to get me. I just don't. So maybe I am an idiot so be it. I did enjoy James's exploration however of the kinds of religious experiences to be had.
